Implementing
Effective Change
Many managers need to move
parts of the organisation within their sphere
of influence into a different direction. Sometimes
it is to achieve better practice, other times
to fix an intransigent problem, or it might
be to implement a new strategy. There are
many approaches, tools and techniques which
can be helpful often emanating from the world
of consultancy, and this seminar aims to show
how they can be used in your circumstances.
Topics typically include:
• Understanding
the issues (tools
& techniques for organisational analysis)
• Building the road map
• Map the business process
• Adding value
• Implementation (a
variety of tools and techniques including
use of measures – KPIs; roles and
responsibility charting –RACI; team
structures; mobilising people; etc.) |

Building
The Management Dashboard
The management dashboard
has been coined as a term to cover the process
of setting targets, measuring performance
and defining who is responsible for delivering
what. Most managers will have to build or
work with a set of measures at some point
and this seminar addresses the underlying
concepts and will show you how to approach
their implementation. Typical topics include:
• Adapting the
balanced scorecard
• Building a cascade of measures –
the KPI (Key Performance Indicator) tree
• Building
the corporate dashboard
• How to drive performance
• The process of building a structure
of measures for your organisation or unit |

Managing
A Biotech Company
Many smaller companies have been formed around
an original idea or a piece of Intellectual
Property, and have grown rapidly from a standing
start. Frequently the management - often scientists
– find themselves having to address
‘new’ management issues as the
company grows rapidly. We have put together
a management template,
based on tools and techniques taken from ‘big
consultancy’ and adapted to the world
of Biotech. The content of the seminars is
based around this template:
• Build the strategic
vision (where do you want the company
to go?)
• Structure the management processes
( including effective project management)
• How value is added (calculating
value, reducing risk)
• Building measures (KPIs for
Biotech)
• Deal making (presenting to
and negotiating with big pharma)
• Presenting to investors, obtaining
funds |

Consulting
Skills
Consulting skills are subtly
different from the skills usually required
to be successful within industry. The difference
largely reflects all the issues involved in
the management of a client. This seminar is
structured on the core skills, which are close
to those that ‘big consultancy’
would aim to develop, and are ultimately focused
on delivering success to a client. Typical
topics include: • Managing the client
• Setting up the project •
Project planning and delivery •
Managing the team
Under each topic there is a sub set of consulting
tools and techniques. |

Effective Presentation
And Facilitation Skills
For most managers presentation skills are
a ‘must’ for success. More training
and development in this area is always better
– there is no limit to what can be learnt.
Facilitation skills are slightly more subtle,
focusing on bringing small groups together
and moving them in a desired direction. This
kind of seminar is best tailored to specific
needs, but topics typically include:
• Structuring the message •
Communication delivery and personal style
• The audience – how to make an
impact • Facilitation skills –
what are they, when to use them. |
